Carol...

The heartbreak must be overwhelming...

You did not mention where you live. There are some very good, ferret
knowledgable vets all across the country. Perhaps if you mention the
general area of where you reside, (Don't give an address, just a major city
would be fine) we can direct you to a ferret specialist.

I know that if I were to have one of my companions operated on with this
critical a surgury, I would want a vet who is experienced in using
cryonics....a machine that literally freezes the afflicted area...the
chances of arterial intrusion are greatly reduced.....

Hoping the folks here in FERRETHEALTH can help you and your little girl....

I have a wonderful (well, aren't they all) little 4 year old girl who has a
tumor in her throat! We discovered this just this week when we noticed that
she looked like she had swallowed an inner tube! I just talked with my vet
who wants her in for surgery on MONDAY (11/22). He advises us that there is
a VERY GOOD RISK that she could bleed to death during this surgery, because
this is so close to the jugular; but that it must be removed before it
starts pressing on, and compromising, both her trachea and esophagus.

He has NEVER PERFORMED THIS SURGERY, and said he couldn't even really find
anything from other vets on it.
