Hi, Linda and everyone else,

I doubt it. Our vet told us that sometimes adrenal
tumors fluctuate when we went throught the same thing
with Nyssa.

I tend to agree but I am not a vet nor a real expert.

This part worries me a whole lot. Our vet says that
if you don't get the whole gland you don't get the
disease. Part of the tumor remains in. He believes
you have to get it all and that requires one of the
procedures your vet doesn't do.
Also, assuming she gets *most* of the gland and what's
left doesn't produce sufficient adrenal products to
keep electrolytes in balance, does she know what to do
regarding supplementation? In case of an Addisonian
Crisis?
It sounds like you have a vet who knows her
limitations and is not afraid to share them with you.
That is a very good thing. Perhaps she can recommend
another surgeon for Cookie. Maybe it's worth
traveling a bit with him.

Our vet believes lupron is not a cure. He believes
the only cure is surgery. Oh, and yes, a second
adrenal surgery is VERY rough on the ferret until
electrolytes are in balance. After that they seem to
bounce back pretty quickly.
Good luck to you and to Cookie.
All the best,
Caity and the fantastic four
