I have towels and/or blankets covering all sleep areas of all of my
cages. I make sure my babies have plenty of light over their
food/toilet areas, but always keep any area where I have hammocks and/or
sleep sacks completely covered!
If they are out in the huge corral we built down in our basement; then I
make sure there are also a lot of old sheets, blankets, jogging pants,
etc. in their sleeping area there as well. I also turn off all basement
lights early in the evening (except for one small light over the
washer).
I have always heard that we give our ferrets too much light.
