Subject: pancreatic surgery/nothing to remove?

My 6.5 y.o. ferret just had his 3rd pancreas surgery in 3 years. The vet said he has about 1/2 of his pancreas left. No nodules visible to very careful examination visually or by touch. Vet emphasized that he really inspected the pancreas and has never had one where he couldn't see anything at all.

Vet said only parts of pancreas left to remove would have been too close to either pancreatic duct or ? artery so opted not to remove any pancreas.

Would vets or anyone with experience on this please comment? I know usually a partial pancreatectomy is best even if no nodules visible, but I also understand this situation is a little different. Has anyone else run into this or have different opinions?

Thanks in advance.
