Hi Carol and Hebrews 1222,
No, the melatonin implants are not radical.
It is merely a simple SQ injection over the shoulder
blades area. Most ferrets can be distracted with a treat
(Nutical, ferretone, baby food, etc) while the injection is
giving. I gave 4 implants today with no problems, and my
3 personnel ferrets all have them. The implant then releases
melatonin over the next 3-4 months.
For more info check out their website at www.melatek.net or
Mike's website www.miamiferret.org/fhc/melatonin.htm.
Hope that helps,
