The concern is for suppression of more than just the
excess adrenal products, as in normal hormones (i.e.:
testosterone). This, in turn, can cause muscle
wasting.
Shortly before lymphoma caught up with Podo we had
discussed increasing his dosage from 200mcg (monthly
depot) to 300-350mcg, which our vet considered safe.
Dosages above 500mcg he considered unsafe.
FWIW, are talking about a largish, active male ferret,
age almost 10, weighing in at around 1350g at the
time.
