Well, Twizzler's biopsy results came back, and it's "an intermediate variant of lymphoma". We biopsied the lymph node that became enlarged first, and the pathologist said that it indicated "early involvement of this lymph node with lymphoma". The Dr. and I were hoping that this would be a good prognosis, especially since her x-rays were clear.
That was late last week. Twizzler had initially responded well to the pred, with her lymph nodes coming down significantly. Her axillary and popliteal lymph nodes had been enlarged. Since then, both sets of lymph nodes are back up, as well as her sub-mandibulars. She has stopped playing, and seems to only want to sleep. It's like she has aged three years in two weeks (she's between 3 and 5 years old.)
She still acts like Twizzler, just older. She doesn't seem to be in pain, and still comes out to see me when she hears me come in. She's still eating and drinking, just doesn't seem to have much energy.
We have her on pred and essiac, and we're trying to keep her as comfortable as possible. I have pain meds for when she starts acting painful. I was hoping she'd respond better to the meds, but I think we have to face the fact that the end will probably come fairly quickly.
Thank you very much to everyone who helped us with this. It's greatly appreciated. I will keep the list updated as things develop.
Bright Blessings,
Becky and Twizzler
