Allison,
You might want to check with your vet on that Lupron once a year thing. from what I understand it is once a month, or is there another form of Lupron that can be given once a year??? As Dr Mike mentioned earlier in this discussion you need to give Lupron regularly or the symptoms will return.
But to answer the initial question, I just had surgery done on my 5 year old male, males can develop other problems due to the adrenal that you should discuss with your vet. He is now doing wonderful, he has gained a lot of muscle, a nice full coat and his energy has returned. At this point, if faced with the same decision, I would opt for surgery if my ferret was a good surgical candidate of course!

[Moderator's Note: just a little note to say that if the "Dr. Mike" you were referring to was me (miamiferret), I am not a vet, but thanks for the compliment!]
