Subject: Ferret Question - Diarrhea, hind in weakness, Lethary, Not Eating

Last week we had a ferret come to us with diarrhea, hind in weakness,
lethargy, and not eating or drinking on her own. Her spleen is enlarged and feels
hard to the touch, the edges of the spleen are very pronounced. Also, we think
at some point in time she may have suffered a back injury as she was found
roaming the street in very bad condition.

Her new owner had her for about 4 months, she was to the vets on Friday,
November 19, 2004, blood work was run and came back normal in value, so the vet
decided to treat her for worms and she crashed within 8 hours of receiving
her first dose of dewormer. The owner contacted us and we have been working with
her since.

Since then we have been feeding her a mixture of AD (20cc) and Rebound
(12cc) every 4 to 5 hours using a syringe, but there has been little to no
improvement so far.

She is at the vet's now, but we're hoping someone out there might have seen
something like this before and be able to help.
