Hi
After bad reactions in my babies time and time again (severe vomiting,
diarrhea, etc.), my vet and I decided that my ferrets would NEVER AGAIN
get any shots!!!!!
This is only OK if you do NOT take your ferrets to shows, take them
outside, or have a lot of strangers handling them.
I run a risk with not getting distemper shots because this is ALWAYS
FATAL in ferrets, but I'm taking that chance. My vet fully agrees.
There have been many discussions by members of our Baltimore Ferret Club
and the various vets that we use that these vaccinations are
contributing to the many diseases we see our fuzzies get. Even if, like
me, you stop giving these shots, most of the ferrets you bring into your
life/home will already have had some (either as babies or when initially
purchased or adopted by first families).
I'm not sure if any definitive research has been done on this, but I
only know none of mine will ever again get them!!

I have a question about the distemper shot. I have read that the ferret
based distemper shot is bad for them. It is the canine shot you should
get. But I have read a few different articles the contradict the
others. Could someone please inform me of the right kind.
