I don't really know either way which one is better. In a perfect world, it's best to use both, but I know how expensive Lupron is...so I can understand wanting to choose one over the other.

As for Timmy's Tonic...It's just an herbal remedy of which I don't think any of the ingredients are toxic to ferrets...but no one has really done scientific research to find this out. The melatonin case is a special case, and no one knows if it was the melatonin's fault the babies died, and most of us think that it wasn't, and that is was most likely tainted, or the babies got into something. I would ask your vet if he knows if any of the ingredients in it are toxic. i doubt it, but it doesn't hurt to do your research. I know of a few people who have used Timmy's tonic for awhile ( I myself did for my adrenal boy but it didn't see to help...and I didn't think I should be giving it to him anymore after what I had read*) and haven't had problems. I don't think you have anything to worry about.

*I should add though that Timmy's tonic contains licorice, which I don't think is something that ferrets should be having. Do a search in the FHL archives, and you will find some topics about this. But, in your case, if it is working well for your babies lymphoma, I say go for it...take the lesser of two evils is you ask me.

After reading about the melatonin that killed some babies, I am wondering if this is ok to do? Are there others out there that use this on a daily basis? I started using it when my vet said Harry was showing extreme signs of lymphoma. He has since been very healthy - on the tonic.
