I have been struggling with IBD symptoms with my three ferrets. I have rea=
d about IBD from ferret sites on the Internet. I have read Dr. Williams ar=
ticle from Ferrets magazine over and over.

My female ferret Petunia is most seriously affected. Her vet has treated h=
er with flagyl, prednosolone and Pepto-Bismol. She is better for a while b=
ut gradually the diarrhea returns with "snot poop" and watery poop. I have=
never observed blood in the stool and when the condition is at its worst t=
he color of the stool is yellow to cream. =

I took Petunia to my ferret vet for a checkup and treatment for the flare-u=
p. He suggested Wellness cat food (www.oldmotherhubbard.com) for her. I c=
hecked the ingredients and found blueberries, cranberries and other vegetab=
le matter. This may be o.k. for cats but should it be fed to ferrets? Now=
she is eating canned Hills Prescription Diet a/d. She likes it and is ma=
intaining her weight and energy.

The vet also gave me some packets of a soft moist diet Purina Veterinary Di=
ets EN gastroENteretic feline formula. None of my three ferrets like it an=
d will eat it only as a last resort. I would appreciate any comments about=
these foods and any advice about IBD.
