The best things we personally have found for IBD have been:
1. Imuran
2. injectible steroids
3. Prednisolone
4. some combo of steroids and antibiotics, especially oral Baytril
5. checking to see if the ferret has an allergy to any foods. One of the two we had with IBD was unable to cope with poultry.
IBD is very individual and what works for while tends to stop working given time if the case is serious enough. We've even had something some people had successfully used for weight gain in others (heavy cream) so worsen one of our's as to almost kill him; that's when we had to have Sherman on about 20 doses of assorted medications for a while earlier this year or last year (See Archives http://fhl.sonic-weasel.org if you want to find out what they were). It's a tricky problem.
Some others have had lucky with canned pumpkin, but that wasn't the case here, of course, the only two cases we encountered were both severe and one was complicated by GI tract deformity.
