I have a 4-year old male who went thru the same thing. I took her to
the vet who took a culture and found out he had a clostridia infection.
Because he also wanted to rule out inflammatory bowel disease, we put
him on a low dosage of Pred. He was on Amox for 10 days and seemed to
get better. It didn't last. The diarrhea started again. I took him
back to the vet who did another culture, only to find it was back. We
are now keeping him on the Amox. for a solid month, along with the
Pred.! Right before the end of this month, I am to take him back for
another culture.

I don't know if yours have the same thing or not, but it's worth asking
your vet.

I've got two ferrets that just keep on getting diarrhea. This has been
going on intermittenly for well over a month. They have semi normal
poops most of the time but at least 1 to 3 times it will be mostly
water. One's is brownish, the other yellowish. I have ten ferts
altogether. Out of those 6 went through one round but stayed better
after treatment with Amoxy, Pepto, Metronidazole. Loki was the first to
get it. Four days later the others. His symptoms went away the third day
and stayed better for about a week, then relapsed. He and Rebel are one
their third round of 7 day treatments. They are still having diarrhea.
They play fine but seem to tire little more easily now. I got them to
eat extra helpings of Bob's chicken gravy and also chicken baby food. I
thought Rebel had lost weight but now seems to be almost back to normal.
I've read it can take up to four weeks if this is like the heliobactor.
Has anyone experienced this?
