Sorry for so many questions about melatonin implants, lupron - and now surg=
ery. I have been searching for another vet in my area who would be willing=
to do the melatonin implants. So far I have found one other (besides the =
one whose price was $92 for 1 implant), this clinic's price is $72. So I h=
ave still been calling and talking to vets and seeking options. The last v=
et I spoke to said he was familiar with the implants, but would never recom=
mend it in a 2 yr old ferret. He said surgery was a much better option. H=
e said the continuing cost of the implants, and then the fact that it is no=
t "curing" the disease - his opinion was surgery was a much better option. =
He sends adrenal ferrets to a specialist about 3 hours from here, who does=
adrenal surgeries all the time. I have read so much on the ferret health =
list from people who have used the implants as an option to surgery, have c=
ancelled surgeries because of their success, that now I am a bit confused. =
I lost one ferret to adrenal surgery. In fact, I have had 2 ferrets under=
go surgeries, and lost them both (opne was for kidney stones) so am a bit h=
esitant for Pip to have surgery, and if the implants work, really prefer th=
at route, but what is the best thing to do? Thanks. Mary
