Get a higher concentration. I've used Prelone which is available as 15 mg of prednisolone per 5 ml. With that you could cut the liquid quantity to one third what you're currently giving him. 1.7 ml is a lot better than 5 ml. Also, how about dividing it into two doses a day instead of just once a day. I don't think you said why you're giving pred, but if for insulinoma, twice a day is usually better at controlling blood sugar levels over the course of the day.
