As I posted a little while ago, one of my 5 month old hobs, Cheech, developed hind-end weakness over night. Legs still worked properly but he was turning one out slightly and keepings his back flat rather than arching. He would sometimes drag his legs a little rather than walk.

He seemed to get better over 3-4 days and then relapsed slightly. There has been no sign of illness, he eats well, continues to gain weight and grow. My vets believe it's due to an injury and prescribed Prednicare to reduce inflamation. This seems to have been effective as he is much better but he still looks a little sore.

A recent post stated that hind-leg weakness is rarely due to injury. Are there any other symptoms I should be looking for? Every ferret illness seems to begin with hind-end weakness but appetite, excreta, activity and coat all seem normal.

hope to hear from you,
Lucinda
