These things can take quite some time. Watch for how he reacts and if he
starts to use the leg more and more it is a better thing. I thing early
oral antiinflammatories might be of benefit even though the DMSO is an
antiinflammatory it is more commonly used in horses, don't use it much in
small animals but occassionally have. Be prepared some of the tissue on
this leg may start to slough off (fall off an leave new things underneath).
This is a normal process so don't freak out, discuss it with your vet. This
whole process can take weeks and weeks. If you see bleeding as the new
tissue comes in this is a good sign. Work hard, be diligent and it will
probably heal fine. If you find that he uses the leg less and less then
this is a poor indicatior. Hope this helps.
