Benedryl is usually a very forgiving medication. Try the lowest amount that helps. For instance if he is an adult and not of an unsually small size first try 0.2 ml of the plain children's Benedryl elixir and if that doesn't work try 0.3 ml of that med in maybe 8 hours.

Better yet, discuss his dosing and the timing with his treating vet! Call your vet's office and ask for a call-back when the vet can manage it, including when you will be a available. We had a female who used to get it more often than every 8 hours for asthma needs during her bad times.

WARNING: Do NOT get an exilir with added medications. There are some versions out now with an over the counter pain relief med, acetominephrin, that is extremely dangerous for ferrets.

In _Essentials of Ferrets, a Guide for Practitioners_ from AAHA press, written by Dr. Karen Purcell on page 30 the info for diphenhydramine which is the same med is
