Byron was very sick early today. He was chewing at his foot and I saw some puss at a break in his skin at the knee. I took him into the vet immediately. He had a temp of 103.2 and his leg has lost all its circulation. The vet said he needed immediate surgery. So at 3:30pm today the vet amputated his right hind leg.

He is doing well and was awake at 4:30 and trying to walk around. He was stable enough to come home with me and is sleeping, drinking, eating and peeing. No poop yet. I have been feeding him chicken gravy and he is quite hungry and thirsty. The vet said he was borderline dehydrated but since he was drinking so well he would for go the Sub Q fluids until the morning to give him a chance to get some water in on his own.

10:30pm is Antibiotic and feeding time....and he well get in the sick cage for the evening. right now he seems more secure in the travel carrier with the heating pad under half his carrier.

We go back for follow up in the morning. If all is well we go back in one week for suture removal.

thank you for the support, prayers and thoughts.
