Jen, troubling times for you.
First..do this before you do anything else...go to the store and buy some
Infant Turkey baby food and force feed your little girl...don't let her
refuse the food...If she is not eating, she can go downhill very quickly.
Then, PLEASE let us know where you are located, perhaps you are close enough
to another vet who IS ferret knowledgeable and can give you a second
opinion.
If she is staring off (Could appear as being blind) and not responding, it
could be she has insulinoma.
I quote below, Sukie Crandall in an earlier post her to FerretHealth:
"Hind leg weakness -- in both legs -- is usually in response to serious
illness, esp. insulinoma. The reason I mentioned it is because people are
new to ferrets often don't realize that ferrets do this very commonly for a
serious illness so may put off going to the vet in a timely fashion."
Take some Karo syrup and rub it on her gums...does she respond? (The
response will be fairly fast, within minutes)
Hopefully, one of the vets here will give you some more definitive answers
to your questions...in the mean time..Sukie, Mike...any further comments???
I am really against using the euthanasia 'out' without exhausting all
options.....

> One of those said ferrets seems to be having serious problems. Her back
end doesn't seem to work with her front end which results in her falling
over mostly and not being able to get anywhere. She also acts as if she's
gone blind, use to be I'd put my hand down to her and she'd run right over.
Now she does nothing. Even if i have my hand right next to her. She's not
interested in eating or drinking, I've been trying to do both with a
dropper. Should I take my vets advice (she doesn't know much about ferrets)
or is there something else i can try at home before I send her home on the
Rainbow Bridge?
