Jerry, it's info I had from Dr. Bruce Williams but off-hand I don't know the references he used. It could be that it is outdated now, though, or perhaps that some studies conflict as often happens in medicine in which case there often tend to be nuances that still need to be found (which wouldn't surprise me since I've heard of some, including at least one of an FHL member, whose vets had to add dietary sugars or starches because the ferrets were doing too poorly on the high protein approach, and certainly in the end stage there have been more than a few talked about here and in other lists who got extra time after the meds no longer worked from having dietary sugars added).

If time allows later I'll look for it; I think it appeared in a post; if not, it was a pers com.

Thanks for the new info! I hope the article will at some point appear somewhere where all can read it.
