My 6 year old ferret, we believe has congestive heart failure. He has not urinated since yesterday evening, then it was only a few dribbles. He did poop on me earlier. I have given him liquid furosemide and yesterday he had 3 .2cc lasix shot. This morning we gave him 1 shot. He was building up fluid yesterday but was peeing yesterday morning and afternoon. If he is held the right way he can breathe ok, respiration is a little fast though 60 breaths per min.

We called the emergency vet last night, who is not our usual vet. He said give another lasix shot, which did no good. We called this morning he said he didn't know anything about ferrets and gave us phone numbers of vets 2 or 3 hours away. I really don't think he'd survive a ride like that. I yelled at him and the answering service and said I was just going to start calling numbers of people with the same last name as our vets until I get one. He got all upset and I hung up on him. I have called every vet around either they have an answering service that tells me they only see clients or they have an answering machine. I have left messages. I found the phone number of one of our vets, but had to leave a message. I can't get anyone. I do think I have scared the local vets though so maybe someone will call back. They know me and they know not to mess with me. Last resort if no one calls by 12 I am know someone who works at the vets, maybe she'll give me a vets number.

Does anyone know what could possibly be wrong. Little dribbles will come out so I don't think it's a blockage. I thought possibly an infection, but shouldn't lasix work no matter what? Anything I can do? Besides start calling vets again and threaten them with bodily harm? I will do it if I have to.
