I had the same exact thing happen to me. It has been about 5 months since w=
e got Peanut and she is finally trying to play with the others now that she=
has gained some weight and is feeling better. The reason she was so skinny=
was because they didn't care what they fed her so they gave her what ever =
cat or dog food they had on hand that day, so she developed an ulcer and re=
fused to eat. She almost died. I started feeding her duck soup every 3 hour=
s and her Amoxicillin, and she made it through it. I still have to feed her=
some duck soup in the morning or she follows me around with the "I'm dying=
, feed me" look in her eyes. She had not been around other ferrets since sh=
e was a baby, so I don't think she new how to act. The first time my Chuppa=
grabbed her behind the neck in play to drag her into the closet, like he t=
ries to do with my other female, she panicked and squealed like he was tryi=
ng to kill her. But now she just relaxes and lets him do it and hisses at h=
im all the way into the closet and then war dances all the way out again. O=
ccasionally running back to jump on his head and then running to disappear =
under the dresser. Give him time to figure out his place and that those oth=
er fuzzy critters he shares a room with won't yell at him when he acts sill=

health] Adopted ferret skin and bones I recently drove 2 hours to adopt an=
other ferret. When I picked him up out of the pet carrier he was a skeleto=
n with skin over it. The lady said that she had gotten him from someone el=
se, and guessed his age as 4 to 6. He has all his fur, his eyes are bright=
. He doesn't want/know how to play. When I asked her what she was feeding=
him.... pizza, chicken and cat food sometimes. His poops were orangish on=
the day I got him, but have since after 36 hours of eating ferret food, tu=
rned back to looking like my ferret's. He will be going to the vet soon. =
He sleeps erratic unlike my ferret. My ferret sleeps for several hours, is=
up several hours, so on. This new ferret, will sleep for a little while, =
wake up eat (eating and drinking very good) potty, wander around for just a=
litte bit, then sleep awhile, then get up and do it over again. He does n=
ot want to play with my ferret, but does not fight with him either. He is =
very loving and can be handled and hugged and kissed. My questions are: Ho=
w long will it take to put on weight providing the vet sees nothing wrong? =
will he learn to play? I have not seen this ferret play or war dance, and i=
t's very disheartening... I'm just concerned he doesn't know how to be a fe=
rret??
