Subject: bed stuffing harmful ?

Hi....I have three 12 week old kits who live in a room where we have our
guest bed. When we ferret proofed the room, we lifted up the bed and I noticed
that there is stuffing on the underside of the boxspring that can be easily
pulled out. It is a soft stuffing type of material that shreds easily. I tried
to pull it out so that the ferrets wouldn't get to it, but the more I pulled,
the more came out. We haven't found material to try to staple under the bottom
of the bed to seal the stuffing in, so we put the bed back and crossed our
fingers. The stuffing isn't hanging out, so I was hoping (naive me) that they
wouldn't go after it. Tonight for the first time, after their playtime, I
noticed some bits of the stuffing out on the floor. Could I get some feedback as
to whether this type of thing can be harmful for a ferret. Are they likely to
eat it? I haven't seen this happen, but am worried as to whether a shreddy
type of material could cause them problems.
Thanks !!! Lisa & Clementine (Clemy), Bridget (Bridgey) and Lily
