I disagree with this - for many ferrets it is safe, but from personal
experience, the oils are still present, even if in minute amounts, and I came very
close to losing one of my boys to anaphylaxis within three to five minutes of
the litter being placed in his pan.

Any substance can cause problems - if using for the first time, make sure to
observe for a while for reactions.

We have been using the (hardwood) stove pellets for over a year now with no
problems.
