Subject: question about Salt's symptoms

Salt our three year old ferret is usually very active and wants to cuddle and play. Well today when we came home he was laying in his cage and wouldn't come out. He is very lethargic and when you touch his stomach he flinches. He won't let us hold him. There are no vets up here (Alaska) with 24 hour emergency services and I don't know what to do. Please help.
