This is an often discussed topic. If not here then on the FML. I don't believe anyone has the definitive answer as to why they do this, but there has been many theories. Many have tried to connect it to some medical condition their ferret has, but the medical problems of ferrets that drink urine have been so varied that I don't think a connection has been made. Some ferrets do this while in apparently good health. Had one myself that fit that category.
