Well, my post just got a private note about someone who has a ferret with what may be nutritional steatitis as per her comments on the what the vet is considering for a diagnosis, so here is the treatment taken from Fox's vet texts to have here and in the archives:

Nutritional Steatitis (Yellow Fat Disease: That is from too much oil marine fish or from too much polyunsaturated oil. Affected animals need to be injected with 10 IU vitamin E daily for 2 days, then add 30 mg (30 IU) by diet for 10 days, then 15 mg for 5 days more, and finally 10 mg. day afterward for maintenance.
