Have any rodenticides been used recently? Unfortunately, there have been c=
ases in the past of which I have read where firms hired to removed squirrel=
s or bats (which are not rodents) have been known to put down rodenticides =
which then work their way downward gradually so it would have had to be rec=
ent.

Any other toxins used around there recently?

I'm with Dr. Sue on this. Until more is known the precautions appropriate =
for a zoonotic need to be considered. It might be some form of hemolytic d=
isease, and even severe reactions can look like that (though it would be tr=
uly weird to have multiple individuals of two species reacting to the same =
substance --pretty completely unheard of), and I'd sure not discount poison=
ing.

Has your vet contacted the two veterinary poisoning centers? Has your phys=
ician contacted human poisoning centers? Are you on well water or cistern =
water or do you klnow the water is okay because it is city water so others =
also use it? With something so serious I think I'd be inclined to pay the =
case fees to have multiple groups working on it.
