Hi Lori,
Ringworm is not too common in ferrets, but it
can be treated just like a cat. Program can be used.
Griseofulvin can be used, and even ketaconazole and
itraconazole if needed. The lime dips weekly for 6-8 dips
will also work. Also clean and disinfect his environment
(ie cage, food bowls, litter boxes, towels, hammock, etc)
with a diluted bleach solution (1 part bleach to 10 parts
water)! Throw the hammock and bedding in the washer
machine with hot water and bleach. Sometimes you have
to treat all animals in the house (ferrets, cats, and dogs)
in order to clear ringworm up.
Hope that helps,
Jerry Murray, DVM

also from a DVM BUT it has since been found that tea tree oil is anti-androgenic and hyperestrogenic so NOT a good thing for ferrets (BTW, lavender oil also has those effects):

I would not use cortisone with Ringworm it can make it worse. The Lym Dyps
are weekly for at least 4 weeks, you can use miconizole topically and if you
need something to soothe or help with the itch, oatmeal rinses are great.
Tea Tree oil is great for ringworm but it can be dangerous and I would not
have you use it with out assistance and guidance, even if it is natural.
Ideally if you can get it under control with topical therapy it is best, if
you need more them use of Sporanox is a possibility but can have its own
share of problems but most handle it fine. Was the ringworm diagnosed via
culture? Good Luck.
Dr. Sue
