Dear Pat:

I would want to know more about this spinal degeneration - is it truly affecting most of the vetebrae, or just a couple.

When you see lysis of the vertebral bone, chordoma is the most common cause, by far - more than any bacterial or fungal infection. While most chordomas appear at the tip of the tail, we can actually see them anywhere in the spine. However, when they infiltrate other parts of the spine, they cause tremendous problems and paralysis (although not usually seizures).

That spinal X-ray is a very important pice of information, and it might be helpful if you could get an image of it to post to the web site.

With kindest regards,

Bruce Williams, DVM
