Hi, everyone,

I just got back from the emergency vet with Avon. His bladder was expressed but there wasn't a huge amount in it. His urine was very concentrated and the vet simply thinks he wasn't drinking enough. That doesn't make sense to me as I see him drinking normally. He's also no longer incontinent--he's going to the litter pan again, thought nothing was done to help him with this.

The vet is pretty convinced that the original diagnosis was incorrect. His pulse in both legs is strong, his feet are warm and not swollen, his heartbeat is regular and at a normal rate. X-rays showed absolutely nothing out of the ordinary. Everything looks normal. She's not at all convinced that he has heart disease but does feel an ultrasound is the next step in trying to figure out what is going on or at least eliminate things. This vet thinks neuropathy or perhaps a slipped disc. We are no closer to knowing what is really going on. I am still concerned about whether or not he can urinate on his own.

Avon continues to have no use at all of his left rear leg, which he drags, and limited use of his right rear leg. If I see him urinate I will try and get him back to our regular vet Monday morning. If not, well... we'll see.

The main thing is that Avon is out of danger.

It's 4:01 AM and I'm exhausted.

All the best,
Caity
