Lynn,

Next time insist on Flagyl (metronidazole) in tablet form. Break it
into little chunks (but don't powder it) and hide it in a dab of
something tasty - Nutrical, Ferretvite, baby food, chicken gravy,
whatever you have. It goes right down without a fuss that way. A
huge plus is that if they don't taste it, it also doesn't cause the
ferret stress which can make things worse.

The dosage might not be as precise this way (the dose is a fraction of
a tablet), but how precise is the liquid when they're spitting it all
over the place anyway? I would guess that I got FAR more actually
into mine with the tablets than with liquid.
