It is mucous which usually is form the colon not the small intestine. It
usu is secondary to something that irritates and sometimes adding some fiber
like canned pumpkin or green peas can help. Sometimes I even use squash.
Others have used a bit of metamucil but I think it gels up and if they don't
drink a lot of water with it can make matters worse.

In Ref to the other mention of poops like sludge, I am not connecting what
you are describing.
