HeyHeyHey,
I have a small MF male ferret, approx 6 to 7 years old. He recently had hi=
s remaining adrenal gland removed along with one kidney. During his expolo=
rtory it was also determined that he has insulinoma and lymphoma, diagnosed=
by biopsy of digestive tract lymph nodes.
Blaze lost his kidney to hydronephrosis. There was no cancer involved in =
his kidney altho a reason could not be given as to why he developed hydrone=
phrosis.
I have several questions.
1. Should Blaze be eating a lower protein diet now that he only has one ki=
dney?
2. Is there anything I can do preventively to protect his remaining kidney=
?
3. What are the symptoms of that kidney going into failure? Are they diff=
erent than symptoms he would have if he were going into addisonian crisis?
4. Concerning his florinif (sp), is it usual for an adjustment time when t=
he dosage will go up then back down to where it was before? He started on =
.15, potassium was high so the dose was raised to .20. His postassium went=
to low so we went back to .15. Both times he was just barely over or unde=
r the normal values. Will this go back and forth for awhile and level out =
or should we try for .175?
5. What symptoms should I be looking for concerning his lymphoma and are t=
here any that differ from the adrenal or kidney situation?
Thanks so much for any help you can steer this way,
HappyTails,
