The first winter I had my current male, Balt, he
changed his coat about 3 or 4 times going between
lighter and darker. He was about 6 months at the time
and we joked that he couldn't decide what color he
wanted to wear. He's 2 1/2 now and has settled out to
the lighter shade. In the winter he gets noticeably
lighter than summer but has had the number of color
changes since that first winter. He's a big healthy
boy and has always had a nice coat even during the
color changes. Especially between winter and summer,
face markings change for my ferrets, some ferrets more
than others, but I notice it more in the youngsters.
