I am very interested in hearing Dr. Williams input on this mystery illness. Most of us have seen a post made by a layperson, on Dr. Williams behalf. Though I know this was done with the best of intentions, it's a little difficult to communicate these concerns to others, most especially when euthanization is being recommended, when it is not coming directly from a professional. This is not intended as a slight to the person who posted for Dr. Williams, but I feel if it is that critical, it should come from the source.
I mentioned it to my vet yesterday, in passing. He was somewhat familiar with the disease since he keeps up with ferret medicine. However, he was surprised at the recommendation to euthanize, and then became somewhat disinterested when I told him a layperson was putting the word out. In any event, I have recommended that he contact Dr. Williams if he sees any possible cases of this illness.
