BTW, ferrets are descended from crepuscular animals who used stolen burrows. So, since their ancestors were crepuscular they were most active at dawn and dusk (dim light), then in rest they were well away from light. That is very different from most extant primates -- which tend to be diurnal (daytime activity) so what works for us is not necessarily best for them.
