Subject: Questions about Proglycem dosage
Message-ID: <1195073.1075947314382.JavaMail.root@indium.smartgroups.com>

I have a couple of questions about Proglycem and didn't find a satisfying answer in the archives. My eight year old Jaz has heart problems and is on Lasix and Enlapril twice a day. His fasting blood sugar is at 62 now and my vet and I agree that insulinoma is the problem. I have dealt with insulinoma before and used Pred. This time, he has prescribed Diazoxide 10mg/ml, .5 twice a day instead of Pred. (Jaz weighs about 2.7 right now.) It was relatively inexpensive at $14 (almost a full bottle) and is a flavored compound.

I read in the archives that it is usually given after Pred is tried. Is it okay to start out with instead of Pred? Is the dosage appropriate? Thanks for any input.

Earlicks and toebitings to all,

Trish
