Hi Chris,
I have been using Lupron to treat adrenal ferrets
for 6 years now. I have only had 1 with a side effect,
and only a very few that react to the injection being
giving. No reason to be afraid of Lupron!
It lowers the LH level, which is the hormone stimulating
the adrenal glands. This chronic overstimulation of the
adrenal glands leads to the hyperplastic and neoplastic
changes in the adrenals. When used in a young ferret,
it may prevent the adrenal glands from becoming a problem.
Hope that helps and clears things up,
Jerry Murray, DVM
