I prefer Jugular. I think it is safer. Sometimes I use anesthesia and still
use the jugular vein. I have heard reports that the venacava procedure can
be dangerous but is used if you can't get it form other sources. I also
knoe that some of the values can be skewed with anesthesia so it at all
possible do it without, but if they stress too much I will sometimes give
gas. I have never used to Vena Cava procedure and do not believe it is in
vogue to do. Hope this helps and I am interested to see what the other vets
think.
