Hi everyone,
I was hoping to get some advise on helping our ferret, Oscar.
He was diagnosed in December with insulinoma and started on Drapred
(like baby predsinone)--.23ml twice a day. He did not get any better so
we changed it to .4 twice a day, still really no better. Our vet said we'd
consider surgery but she wanted to do a lymph biopsy first to see if something
else was going on and to our sadness, it came back positive. We don't have
a vet that does the chemo where we live so we are just continuing with the .4
ml
Drapred twice a day.
He doesn't eat his dry food very much but does LOVE the baby food chicken or
turkey. He has gained so much weight over the past 2 months. about a pound
and a half which I know is too much.
I had also heard about/and ordered Timmy's Tonic which is supposed to be good
for the
tumors but I have been afraid to give him the full dosage because it contains
clover honey which I was afraid wasn't good for the insulinoma????
I realize his days are numbered, he is so lethargic, doesn't run around much
(I
think he tires out partly because of the extra weight), so I just wanted
advise as to
whether I am doing all I can, am I making him worse (insulinoma)giving him a
small
amount of Timmy's Tonic (in trying to treat the cancer homeopathically) Also
what
about Ferretvite--I get him to eat a bit of dry food with Ferretvite on it.
I am sorry this is so long, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as to
how I can help him for the remaining time he has with us. (I guess it goes
without
saying that it just breaks my heart, I am so totally attached to him....he is
only
four years old)
Thank you.
