Hi Cindy,

Our shelter use to fast for 3 hours. But now we don't fast at all. It is
too hard on the insulimoma ferrets to be without food that long.
By the time I feed one of mine just before going and bring them up for a
test (which I did for 2 ferrets last week), with the drive and wait time,
it doesn't have much effect on the reading.

Liz

glucose reading

> A quick question: My little boy, Bailey, has an appointment with my
world's-best Ferret Vet tomorrow morning. I suspect the Dr. will want a
blood glucose reading.
> Do I need to withhold food and/or water before the appointment?
> Do I need to know when he last ate and/or drank?
> Should I deliberately feed him (x) number of hours before the appointment?
> Please advise.
