Hi!
I posted a message awhile back about one of my foster ferrets that has been=
ill for a couple of months. Update is that I'm adopting her this week so s=
he's not a foster kid any longer. She had surgery 2 weeks ago because we th=
ought she had a hairball. No hair ball but the biopsy results showed that s=
he has helicobactor again which she was treated for 2 years ago. She's on a=
moxil, metronidazole, biaxin & ranitidine and seems to be doing a bit bette=
r though she absolutely hates her meds. I searched the archives and didn't =
find a lot of info about helicobactor. Does anyone have anything to share a=
bout this? Oh, BTW - she has 4 ferret family members and I board different =
ferrets at my house all the time, too so I'm wondering if they can pass thi=
s back and forth without showing symptoms. Everyone else is healthy. I read=
that helicobacotor might be caused by stress but my ferrets have an extrem=
ely low stress life and they are never caged except for maybe a couple of h=
ours a month when I need to make sure they won't excape outside. During the=
time that this ferret got sick, I had to keep her in a huge cage for a lit=
tle more time than I normally do and we had some extra animals in the house=
too and I was working longer hours - could that have caused her enough str=
ess to get this illness? =
Any info that anyone has to share about helicobactor would be much apprecia=
ted. Thanks! nancy
