Ferrets can be very fussy about eating. I've seen cases where ferrets have literally starved themselves to death becaue their food was abruptly changed. The people thought the ferrets would eat when they got hungry enough. The ferrets ate a bit now and then but they literally starved to death.

I've talked with people who left their ferrets at their vets for medical care over a few days time and the ferrets were literally starving when they came back home because they were not fed their regular food and what little food the clinic fed, if they did at all, was not enough to support the ferret.

Please don't think ferrets will eat anything when they get hungry enough. When ferrets don't feel well they sleep more and eat less. During these times they need to be closely monitored and their diet supplemented as needed.

Please consider trying Mike's suggestion with lessening the water a little at a time. If you can get them to eat a little meat baby food perhaps you could mix that with the moistened kibble and it will give them a bit more nutrition.

Also, if you'll go to wwww.ferretfamilyservices.org and scroll down to the feeding sick ferrets link, and click, that will bring up our handout with suggestions on how to feed sick, recovering, and fussy ferrets.
