Dr. Cottrell (formerly Kemmerer - she just got married!) reports excellent =
results with ProHeart for the treatment of heartworms. This IS the new tre=
atment. Here's what she says: =

"I have used ProHeart in four heartworm-positive ferrets with excellent res=
ults. All four ferrets not only survived, but thrived and tested negative s=
ix to twelve months post-injection. All ferrets received a single dose of 0=
.1 cc=92s regardless of weight."

Previous methods had about a 50/50 survival rate. She also reports questio=
nable results with ultrasound for the diagnosis of heartworms and recommend=
s the IDEXX Snap heartworm antigen test.

Sounds to me like you're on the right track with the current plan for the I=
DEXX test and treatment with ProHeart.
