Sorry this is so long, but I'm getting really worried, and I don't want to forget anything!

First, I would like to thank everyone who replied to my last post about using Lupron for the first time. My vet and I decided that it would be too difficult to get an accurate dose with the Lupron we had, so we did go ahead and order it from Professional Arts Pharmacy.

We gave Yozum his first Lupron injection on Wed., and I was wondering if anyone has seen any strange side effects from it.

The injection was given in his right rear leg on Wed, and on Thurs. morning, he refused to eat (he's also insulinomic). I also noticed a small (about quarter-sized) bruise on his stomach, just above his penis. Today is Sun., and this bruise has now spread to cover the entire shaved area (which never grew back) from his adrenal/insulinoma/exploratory surgery in Oct. It goes all the way across his belly, up to his ribcage, and is starting to spread down the inside of his back legs. It looks like it's still growing.

This is not just the blue color the skin can get just before hair regrows. It's red and ugly and painful-looking. As far as I know, he hasn't fallen or hit anything. I've been hand-feeding (force-feeding when necessary) him since Thurs.

His regular vet left Wed. night for a conference (of course--that's when these things always happen!), so one of the other vets here looked at him. (She doesn't know much about ferrets, but is willing to learn, and I trust her.) We took an X-Ray, and found a grape-sized mass just under his last rib. He was put on Carafate for ulcers on 2-12, and as far as I know, the mass was not palpated at that time. I don't know if it has anything to do with the bruise or not. We don't know exactly what it's attached to, and don't have access to ultrasound to find out.

He has also gained 3 oz. since that time. Again, I don't know if this is due to the mass, or if I've just been feeding him too much! (The mass doesn't feel like it's grown, but it's only been four days)

If it matters, he is on Pred. elixir 0.25 mL BID (for insulinoma) and Carafate for ulcers. His current weight is 2lbs. 10 oz.

Thank you again to anyone who has time to answer this.

Blessings,

Becky
