I have been using Lupron continuously for years on a number of different ferrets and I have never seen a single side effect other than it makes their hair grow. :)
I have heard of the occasional redness around the injection site, but I would think any injection can cause that. I've seen the major bruising like you describe only once after major abdominal surgery. It was not related to any injection and it cleared up in a matter of days without any specific treatment.
