Subject: reactions to two shots
Message-ID: <4246398.1078382019204.JavaMail.root@thallium.smartgroups.com>

Last year one of my furries received his usual double shots of rabies and d=
istemper. Never had he shown any problem of a bad effect to these. Then t=
he worst happened. We got home and he could not move-he just flopped on fl=
oor. Immediately we went back to clinic and they rushed him in to the offi=
ce. We werent asked to go in there so I knew something was afoot. We wait=
ed and waited and then I asked the office girl if he was ok. She went to t=
he back and brought back our vet who has cared for all our ferrets for year=
s. He said our ferret had had a reaction. (I blamed myself knowing all I =
had read on the fml). The vet said they had given him a shot and then had =
to put him on ivs. Oops I thought. He said he was going to take him home =
with him and monitor him overnight as they do not have night facilities. N=
ow this puzzled me, one of our previous (now departed) furries had had shoc=
k and they just gave him a shot and he was on his way home. Why did they h=
ave to put him on ivs. I thought to myself that maybe he had had cardiac a=
rrest and they thought to themselves this furry has got to be saved. These=
people have brought all their furries to us for years--they are super fait=
hful in shots and care. Any ideas. No one ever said a word about what hap=
pened except that he had gone into shock. However when he came home, he wa=
s groggy and the next day, he viciously attacked and tried to kill our othe=
r furries one of whom had been his cage mate. So we had to separate him fr=
om our other ones.
This is a puzzle--is it possible that he received brain damage?
I hate it that he cant play with others and he is so lonesome playing with =
us and all. But he can never play with his brothers and he gets so bored. =
I just want to cry as I would do anything for my furkids. =

'
Now I do not want and I repeat-no flames. Keep nasty remarks to yourself. =
Yes, I should have known better, but I didnt. The one thing I did find ou=
t from all this is now the vets at this clinic now separate the shots. One=
shot is given and then the next one is given two weeks later and no extra =
office visit is charged for the second visit--which is a nice gesture. So =
I guess something good did come out of this. =

I would imagine it scared the vets to death as they know we love our furkid=
s and subscribe to fml and give our babies very good ferret food and that t=
hey are like our skin kids. I could imagine now their minds were clicking =
maalpractice which of course we would never do as they are super vets and a=
ccidents happen. It might have even happened with a single shot.

I would like the answers to the two questions if you can find them amongst =
all my chatter

thanks ever
